EVELYN: My names is Evelyn, and I'm 2 years old, 5 in Earth years.

OLIVER: Right, I guess you've heard enough of these to know how it works, huh?

EVELYN: Yeah.  My mommy worked in Building 21, and my daddy worked with your daddy.

OLIVER: Building 21, that's the 3D printers, right?

EVELYN: I dunno.  She brought back toys sometimes.

OLIVER: That makes sense.  What kind of toys?

EVELYN: I had a toy vacuum, and a toy broom, and a little bucket, and Charlotte's daddy made a little mop that went in the bucket.

OLIVER: Cool, that sounds fun.

EVELYN: Can we go get my toys?

OLIVER: Where are they?

EVELYN: At home.

OLIVER: Well right, but where is that?  Like, which building was it in?  Building 29?  There were some collapsed parts there, remember?  I don't know if we would want to go there for a while until we know how to do it safely.

EVELYN: No, 26.  I didn't like 29.  It was all a mess.

OLIVER: Hmmm...well, maybe.  Maybe we could.  Did you ever see your parents at work?

EVELYN: Yeah.  They put me in the corner and I would watch shows while they worked.

OLIVER: Oh, really?  Did you ever notice anything about how they did it?

EVELYN: They were standing, mostly.  Standing at the front of the machine, whichever one they were using.

OLIVER: Aha, yes, that makes sense.  Did you notice anything else about how they worked?

EVELYN: Not really.

OLIVER: Oh.  Oh, well, I guess I didn't pay much attention to that sort of thing when I was your age, either.  What's the first time you remember meeting one of the other kids?

EVELYN: There was a time when I met Alexander and Harper.  We were having dinner.  I showed them my toys.

OLIVER: Was this in your home?

EVELYN: Yes.  Then we played Shows.

OLIVER: You played what?

EVELYN: We played Shows.

OLIVER: Oh, like you pretended to be in the shows we get from Earth?

EVELYN: Yeah.  We used to play Shows a lot.  Now we play other games, like Circle and Recipe.

OLIVER: Yeah, those aren't really play, but they are fun I suppose.  Singing recipes maybe more than Circle, though.

EVELYN: No, not the real Circle and Recipes.  We play Circle and play Recipes.

OLIVER: Wait, what?  Who does?

EVELYN: Harper and Alexander and I.  Sometimes Henry.  Mia did once or twice, but she's too old usually.  Lucas never does.

OLIVER: You have a play version of Circle?

EVELYN: Yeah!  And then we argue and somebody plays Oliver and says what the oxen level is, and somebody else plays Elijah and yells at somebody.

OLIVER: I...wait, what?

EVELYN: I like it best when I play Olivia and get to say "ok let's do it", or "good job".

OLIVER: Uh...

EVELYN: Do you think we will get to play harvest soon?

OLIVER: You mean harvest, for real?  The sweet potatoes are coming along well.  I sure hope we're not just playing.  Do you have any questions you would like us to ask Earth?

EVELYN: Who?

OLIVER: Earth.

EVELYN: Not really.  I don't know who that is.
